industrial partnerships

Since Bruno Torres acquired MEDITEST in 2007, the company has had 20 suppliers providing original materials.
The company’s main suppliers are: Radcal, CIRS, Ashland, CDR, DATA SPECTRUM, BEEKLEY et PHANTOM LABORATORY.
Since 2007, suppliers have been selected and renewed by quality indicators, and this has resulted in a reduced number. Some world-renowned manufacturers such as RADCAL or CIRS have chosen MEDITEST as their exclusive technical ambassador for their companies within France.
RADCAL
RADCAL is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of ionizing radiation measuring systems for equipment using X-rays.Radcal has an active Research and Development program which is committed to offering new and improved user-oriented X-ray measurement tools used by manufacturers, physicists, biomedical engineers, and government inspectors.RADCAL’s beginnings can be traced to 1975 when RADCAL (then MDH) designed the 1015 for the United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) to measure medical X-ray dose rate, dose, and time without range changing or loss of accuracy when interchanging detectors. The 1015, commonly referred to as “The MDH,” introduced new technology to the industry, and with our Gold Standard ion chambers, users experienced unmatched performance, accuracy, ease of use, and reliability. Today, more than 35 years later, many 1015s are still in active use around the world.Beyond its tight working relationship with RADCAL, and despite the distance, MEDITEST works closely with its teams in various aspects:
- To provide a solution dedicated to all market players,
- To refine MEDIX LAB’s calibration work so it has the widest possible range of equipment adaptation,
- To create a local solution to make the MEDIX LAB offer available at a European level for the entire distribution network,
- To optimize the profitability of MEDIX LAB’s operating procedures.
- To diversify internationally (within reason) to perfect its area of expertise.
Within the scope of this industrial partnership with RADCAL, other developments are underway and make up MEDITEST’s showcase of new, potential offers at a national and international level.
The leader in tissue simulation, CIRS, is recognized worldwide for tissue simulation technology and the manufacturing of phantoms and simulators for quantitative densitometry, calibration, quality control, and research in the field of medical imaging and radiotherapy.

BEEKLEY MEDICAL
Beekley Medical has been a partner to MEDITEST since 2004. MEDITEST is the exclusive distributor for Beekley throughout all of France.
At Beekley Medical, our goal is to help positively impact patients’ lives and improve clinical outcomes.
To accomplish this goal, we have a high commitment to investing in the research and development of simple, low cost, disposable products that help medical imaging, surgical, and radiation oncology professionals improve communication, productivity, and patient care.
We partner with our customers, clinicians, and inventors to produce professional products that replace makeshift or improve upon current methods. Our industries are carefully monitored to ensure our products meet tomorrow’s needs today.

Beekley is committed to meeting and exceeding their internal and external customers’ expectations while complying with all Quality Management System processes which assure we meet the requirements of ISO 13485 and the regulatory requirements of the FDA.
Beekley Medical is the proud recipient of the United States Department of Commerce’s President’s “E” Award for Excellence in Exporting in May 2018. Beekley Medical was recaognized once again for excellence in exporting through receiving the United Small Business Administration’s Exporter of the Year in May 2019.
MEDITEST formally accepted the esteemed Beekley Medical Global Partner of the Year Award at the 2017 European Society of Radiotherapy and Oncology Conference (ESTRO) in Vienna, Austria.
The Global Partner of the Year is awarded to the distribution partner who demonstrates the most growth and commitment to better serving their customers through Beekley Medical’s product line for diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology. Under the direction of Bruno TORRÈS, President, MEDITEST’s business for Beekley Medical products more than doubled in 2016.
“With a partnership of more than 10 years, MEDITEST is very proud for this award” said Bruno Torrès, “It is the result of a hard team work and a dedicated sales strategy for the French market. Of course, we thank Beekley Medical for this award and the strong support from Amy. We will continue with our efforts in 2017.”
CIRS (COMPUTERIZED IMAGING REFERENCE SYSTEMS)
The leader in tissue simulation, CIRS, is recognized worldwide for tissue simulation technology and the manufacturing of phantoms and simulators for quantitative densitometry, calibration, quality control, and research in the field of medical imaging and radiotherapy.
Founded in 1983, CIRS started out by seeking to improve the existing tissue simulation methodology and provide quantitative reference standards for computed tomography (CT).
Today, CIRS is recognized as a leader in the manufacturing of tissue-equivalent phantoms and simulators for medical imaging, radiotherapy, and procedural training.
CIRS is one of few companies worldwide with proprietary technology that permits the manufacture of phantoms for every commercial imaging modality. Applications include Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) production quality control, service, R&D, and pre-clinic trials. The company also provides custom design and manufacturing services to support research into new modalities and techniques.
CIRS employs a diverse group of people with specific knowledge in physics, computational modeling, chemistry, computer aided design, bio-modeling, tool and mold design, pattern making, resin casting, plastics fabrication, machining, electronics engineering, and software development.
Through global partnerships, CIRS, headquartered in Norfolk, VA (USA), distributes its products and services worldwide. Promotional efforts include tradeshows, website and internet marketing, an extensive worldwide network of independent manufacturing representatives, etc.
Within the scope of the industrial partnership, MEDITEST works closely with CIRS teams to develop new offers, such as specific phantoms.

Scientific partners
In 2012, MEDITEST moved to Buc (Yvelines) in the heart of the Saclay-Orsay high-tech valley, which regroups a number of universities, research centers, and industries, including the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA).
This location near the CEA is a strategic choice because in 2011, Bruno Torres signed an expertise license agreement with the CEA-LNE-LNHB, a primary laboratory.
This scientific partnership with the CEA-LNE-LNHB is formalized by a knowledge transfer license which enables:
- The CEA to transfer the results of their research, offer their customers an industrial solution, and help develop the French economy.
- MEDITEST and the MEDIX LAB laboratory to provide excellent services and a national reference, and to diversity their international business.

The involvement of MEDITEST in public health issues has notably led to a close collaboration with CEA-LNE-LNHB experts, in order to offer optimum safety in X-ray use for everyone.
A product of this partnership was the creation in 2011 of MEDIX LAB, the first French secondary metrology laboratory for calibrating low-energy X-rays, under the guidance of the CEA-LNE-LNHB, national metrology laboratory for ionizing radiation.
This first French secondary laboratory facilitates the calibration of quality control equipment, especially for medical physics. This is due to the fact that this calibration can be done in close proximity, within France, which guarantees not only a very short immobilization period for the equipment but also the opportunity to exchange with metrology experts according to the different types of equipment and requirements of use.
Because MEDIX LAB was built and its calibration procedures developed under the guidance of the CEA-LNE-LNHB, each calibration benefits from an optimum level of technological advance and hence quality.
This partnership has allowed MEDITEST to propose a new offer to its clients—whatever the equipment that needs calibrating. Through this new offer, designed for any brand of equipment, the quality of the control equipment can be reinforced so as to ensure optimum effectiveness.
From this original partnership with the CEA in Saclay, an innovative kind of metrology laboratory was established in France. It’s an example of a public / private collaboration resulting in the first private calibration laboratory for low-energy quality control equipment. MEDIX LAB is unique.
With the support of the ECA, MEDIX LAB obtained its French Accreditation Committee (COFRAC) certification in its very first year of inception.
Through the success of this partnership, MEDITEST and the CEA-LNE-LNHB decided to continue their collaboration in terms of research and development to innovate and provide new solutions for various X-rays users.
In 2002 MEDITEST sells its MEDIX LAB branch of activity to the ASGARD Group, for the company SOFIMAE more information.
