The CATPHAN 500 is designed to address the specific testing needs of axial and helical CT scanners. It incorporates modifications for evaluating Z-axis variables encountered with helical scanners. The CATPHAN 500 enables the following measurements and tests: Spatial resolution (up to 21 lp/cm), phantom geometry verification, patient alignment system verification, low-contrast "supra-slice" sensitivity, low-contrast "sub-slice" sensitivity, spatial uniformity, bed increment, CT system background noise, circular symmetry, sensitometry (linearity), and matrix dimensions. Various options and versions are available to enhance the phantom's functionality.
