The Hoffman 3D brain simulation phantom allows for the evaluation of acquisition and reconstruction methods in brain imaging. Its main features are: – accurate anatomical simulation of radioactivity distribution for brain SPECT and PET scans, and studies of proton density distribution and relaxation parameters for brain MRI studies; – it simulates a 4:1 absorption ratio (by partial volume effect) for gray and white matter for metabolic and flow studies; – the single fillable chamber eliminates the need to prepare different radioactive concentrations.
