History

A technical and human adventure

About 30 years ago, medical physics was still relatively new in France, and professionals were beginning to rigorously consider the control of devices using ionizing radiation. This was all the more important as technological innovations were developing and the uses of X-rays in medical imaging were increasing.

It was in this context that MEDITEST was founded in 1984. The company then specialized in electronic and scientific equipment for the nuclear industry.

In the early 2000s, the company shifted its focus to quality control for medical imaging, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, and research facilities. It thus equipped numerous operators with equipment for testing mammography equipment.

In 2007, the company was taken over by Bruno Torrès. At 41, with a master's degree from HEC and 18 years of experience in the medical imaging sector – notably in managing an international group – he embarked on an entrepreneurial dynamic and gave MEDITEST a new dimension.

A visionary, he developed the company's activities in its original fields and expanded into related areas. Thus, in 2013, he created MEDIX LAB, the first French secondary metrology laboratory for low-energy X-ray calibration, under the aegis of the CEA-LNE-LNHB, the national metrology laboratory for ionizing radiation.

A pioneer in quality control in medical imaging and building on 30 years of experience, MEDITEST is today at the forefront of innovation and meets the increasingly demanding regulatory framework imposed by the sector.

From MEDITEST to MEDIX LAB…

In 2012, MEDITEST established itself in Buc (Yvelines), in the heart of the Saclay-Orsay high-tech hub, which brings together numerous universities, research centers, and industries, including the CEA (French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission). MEDITEST operates in the medical imaging quality control market.

Stakeholders are benefiting from the positive effects of the continuous strengthening of regulatory constraints. This impact is significant in the healthcare sector, and particularly in the medical imaging market.
In 2013, with foresight, MEDITEST created the first French secondary metrology laboratory, MEDIX LAB, under the aegis of the CEA-LNE-LNHB, dedicated to low-energy X-ray calibration.

In 2022, MEDITEST sold its MEDIX LAB business unit to the ASGARD Group, for the company SOFIMAE. MEDITEST thus continues its development and strengthens its position as a major player in the radiotherapy, radiology and nuclear medicine sectors, for quality control solutions in medical imaging and precision medicine.
