Radiation protection
Radiation protection is a priority for the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN). The three fundamental principles of radiation protection are:
– justification of the sources of ionizing radiation used;
– optimization or minimization of exposure;
– and limitation of exposure.
In France, radiation protection is defined by law. Establishments possessing a source of ionizing radiation are subject to the Public Health Code and the Labor Code. The application of the Public Health Code falls under the purview of the ASN, with support from the Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN).
The regulations are very strict and require regular monitoring, for which MEDITEST acts effectively by providing professionals with the appropriate monitoring equipment. RADCAL brand instrumentation, and more specifically the 1800 cc large-volume chamber, has been the gold standard for radiation protection measurements for over 30 years.
